Graphcore is seeking a Graduate Software Engineer to join its Kernel Engineering team, focusing on the development of high-performance machine learning (ML) kernels for next-generation AI hardware. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge AI technology within a company renowned for its innovations in artificial intelligence compute.

In this position, you will support the design and implementation of kernels for linear algebra and tensor operations, including GEMM, batched GEMM, convolutions, reductions, elementwise, and fused operations, primarily using C++. Your responsibilities will also involve profiling and optimizing for AI hardware, addressing aspects such as threading, cache locality, memory layout, and kernel launch efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to performance and correctness by adding microbenchmarks, regression tests, and numerics validation, as well as debugging issues and resolving bugs to enhance product quality and functionality.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field. Proficiency in C/C++11 and familiarity with Python or scripting tools for automation and testing are essential. A solid understanding of linear algebra, numerical methods, or scientific computing, along with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, are also required. Preferred qualifications include coursework or experience with ML frameworks, parallel programming, or code optimization, exposure to math libraries such as MKL or OpenBLAS, and knowledge of performance analysis tools.

Graphcore offers a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance, a health cash plan, a dental plan, pension matched up to 5%, life assurance, and income protection. Additional perks include a generous parental leave policy, an employee assistance program covering health, mental wellbeing, and bereavement support, as well as a range of healthy food and snacks at the central Bristol office, which features its own barista bar.
