AI Research Engineer - ML Engineering
Helsing is seeking an AI Research Engineer specializing in Machine Learning Engineering to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work at the forefront of autonomous decision-making systems, contributing to projects that span high-volume data processing, reinforcement learning agent training, and large-scale foundation models.
In this position, you will extend our integrated deep learning frameworks built on PyTorch, enhancing their efficiency and usability across diverse applications. You will scale our infrastructure and tooling to support faster, larger distributed training, and design data strategies for large-scale datasets to ensure optimal GPU utilization. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to abstract complex distributed systems, maximizing training throughput and developer velocity.
The ideal candidate holds an MSc or PhD in Computer Science or a related STEM field, with a focus on Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Strong software engineering skills in Python and proficiency with modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow are required. Candidates should be adept at writing custom layers, loss functions, and distributed training loops, and possess excellent communication skills to convey complex theoretical concepts effectively. A first-principles mindset and experience debugging production ML pipelines are also essential.
