Analytics Engineer
Bird is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join their Data Team, a pivotal unit that drives strategic initiatives and enhances operational effectiveness across the company. As a global leader in micromobility, Bird offers cleaner, affordable, and on-demand mobility solutions in over 200 cities worldwide. The Analytics Engineer will collaborate closely with the engineering team to design and implement data pipelines, data models, and data strategies that support the company's mission to transform urban movement.
In this role, the Analytics Engineer will be responsible for designing and implementing data models that facilitate flexible querying and data visualization. They will develop algorithms and machine learning pipelines based on complex business requirements and advance automation efforts to reduce time spent on data manipulation and validation. Additionally, the role involves guiding the Analytics Engineering roadmap, managing development cycles, and ensuring the creation and maintenance of internal data architecture and governance standards. The engineer will also lead the selection, implementation, optimization, and integration of data tools, and provide training to fellow employees on best practices for data standards, code, documentation, and visualization.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or Finance from a top-tier institution. A minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in data engineering is required, with expertise in SQL and data warehousing concepts like star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, ELT/ETL, and MPP databases. Experience with big-data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, and Hive is essential, along with proficiency in general-purpose programming languages like Python, Java, or Go. Candidates should also be proficient with Git and CI/CD best practices and have experience managing workflows using Agile methodologies.
