Applied Scientist
As an Applied Scientist at Wolt, you will be embedded within a cross-functional product development team, collaborating closely with software engineers, product managers, designers, and analysts. Your primary focus will be to design and deploy machine learning and applied science solutions that address complex business challenges across Wolt's platform and operations in over 30 countries. This role offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects, from forecasting demand and optimizing courier assignments to predicting delivery times, all aimed at enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of our services.
In this position, you will take ownership of applied science use cases, guiding them from initial identification of high-value opportunities through development, prototyping, deployment, and continuous improvement in production. Utilizing a range of technologies, including Python, SQL, Snowflake, Flyte, MLflow, and Seldon Core, you will develop algorithms and data-driven products that empower our merchants and internal teams to automate and optimize various processes. Your work will have a direct impact on improving customer experience by enhancing inventory availability, increasing procurement efficiency, and providing actionable insights for better decision-making.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, and operations research, with practical experience in developing and deploying production-level applied science projects. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with a solid understanding of MLOps practices. Experience in procurement and supply-chain optimization, particularly within the retail domain, is highly valued. Additionally, the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and collaborate across diverse teams is crucial for success in this role.
