The City of Fort Worth is seeking an Assistant City Attorney II to join its City Attorney’s Office, a collegial team dedicated to providing excellent legal services to the city. This role involves representing and advising city clients on various legal matters, including preparing and interpreting legal documents and policies, as well as initiating and defending civil lawsuits on behalf of the city.

Key responsibilities include representing the city in litigation across a wide range of subjects, preparing and filing legal pleadings, conducting discovery, and participating in hearings, mediations, trials, and appeals. The attorney will also provide legal advice on daily business operations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, address citizen complaints, and issue legal opinions. Additionally, the role involves representing the city in administrative proceedings and preparing and reviewing city policies.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and have at least five years of increasingly responsible legal experience, including relevant transactional experience. A license from the Supreme Court of Texas to practice law is required at the time of hiring. Preferred qualifications include experience in city or related government law.

The position offers an annual salary range of $111,791 to $120,890. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some evening and weekend work required.
