Associate Attorney
Tyson & Mendes LLP is a national litigation firm specializing in insurance defense and trial advocacy. The firm is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its San Antonio, Texas office. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic team committed to innovative legal strategies and exceptional client service.
As an Associate Attorney, you will be responsible for developing and executing case strategies, managing court appearances, depositions, motion practices, and trials. You will collaborate with attorneys and staff at all experience levels, maintain consistent communication with clients, and build relationships with existing and prospective clients. Additionally, you will mentor junior attorneys, contributing to the team's growth and success.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school and hold an active bar license in the state of Texas. A minimum of 1–8 years of litigation experience, including case strategy, depositions, and trial preparation, is required. The ability to independently manage a full caseload from discovery through trial is essential. Prior insurance defense experience is preferred, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities are necessary.
The compensation package includes a base salary ranging from $100,000 to $145,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Attorneys are eligible for an annual billable hours bonus starting at $10,000, with additional tiers available. Comprehensive benefits cover health, vision, dental, and life insurance, with employer contributions averaging $700–$1,700 annually. The 401(k) program offers a 100% match on the first 3% contributed and a 50% match on the next 4–5%.
