The Associate Counsel position at NBCUniversal's News Group offers a unique opportunity to support commercial transactions within the dynamic media landscape. The role primarily focuses on NBCU Local, encompassing 42 NBC and Telemundo television stations across the United States. NBCUniversal is a leading media and entertainment company, delivering content across film, television, streaming, and theme parks.

In this role, the Associate Counsel will independently or collaboratively negotiate, draft, and interpret a wide array of commercial agreements. These include vendor, technology, equipment, affiliation, professional services, content license, partnership, sponsorship, events production, venue, affiliate, and distribution deals. The scope covers various platforms such as broadcast, digital, audio, streaming, commerce, subscription, and events. Additionally, the position involves managing renewals, amendments, and the lifecycle of agreements, as well as advising direct-to-consumer businesses on terms of use, product development, marketing, privacy, and consumer protection compliance.

Candidates should possess at least one year of transactional experience in a law firm or comparable in-house position. A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school and membership in good standing of the New York State Bar, or another State Bar with registration as in-house counsel in New York, are required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, and strong writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $100,000 to $130,000 annually, with eligibility for company-sponsored benefits. These benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and various other discounts and perks.
