Associate General Counsel

The firm has also expanded into non-traditional strategies such as real estate, venture capital, and cryptoassets.
The Associate General Counsel will work closely with the DRW Venture Capital team, advising on term sheets, managing negotiation and execution of definitive documents, and providing post-execution support. This role will also support the development of new incubated companies, from formation to legal support for operations. Additionally, the position involves structuring and negotiating joint ventures, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives, requiring coordination with internal subject matter experts, support groups, and outside counsel. Responsibilities also include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a broad range of contracts, including trading-related agreements, software licenses, AI resources, data licenses, technology agreements, data-privacy related agreements, leases, services agreements, vendor agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other commercial contracts.
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of transactional experience at a U.S. law firm. Experience with transactional work relating to trading, finance, technology, and/or digital assets is a plus. Familiarity with AI legal tools is advantageous, and a willingness to learn and use more is required. The role requires an in-office presence in Chicago at least four days per week. Applicants must be comfortable working on unique transactions with tight timelines and possess the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the firm.
The annual base salary range for this position is $200,000 to $300,000, depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and relevant skill set. The position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
