Associate General Counsel, Regulatory and Legislative Strategy

The Associate General Counsel for Regulatory and Legislative Strategy at Scout Motors will lead the Regulatory & Legislative Legal team, reporting directly to the Vice President of Government & Regulatory Affairs. This role involves providing primary legal counsel on policy and regulatory issues, coordinating compliance strategies across government regulations, and developing legal strategies in response to emerging regulatory trends. The position is based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Key responsibilities include managing the Regulatory & Legislative Legal team, advising on pending legislation, overseeing regulatory filings, and guiding internal clients on regulatory matters related to Scout Motors' direct-to-consumer sales model. The role also involves contributing to the development of legal and government affairs plans, ensuring compliance with U.S. and foreign laws impacting the company's vehicles and technology, and establishing Scout Motors as a thought leader on significant regulatory matters.

Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and an active bar membership. A minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in regulatory and legislative affairs, preferably within the automotive industry, is required. Strong knowledge of U.S. and international automotive regulations, dealer franchise laws, and state laws affecting sales and service operations is essential. Experience in managing legal teams and advising on complex regulatory issues is also necessary.

Compensation for this role includes a competitive salary ranging from $200,000 to $245,000 annually, along with benefits such as health insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and paid parental leave.
