Backend Engineer (Python/Go) - Consumer Platform Team

Wolt is seeking a Backend Engineer proficient in Python or Go to join our Consumer Platform team. This team is integral to Wolt's engineering organization, responsible for developing and maintaining the backend components that power the consumer-facing experience, including critical purchase flows and systems ensuring reliability at scale. The role involves a combination of software development, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to enhance system performance and delivery processes.

In this position, you will build and maintain high-throughput backend services using Python and Go, covering the entire development lifecycle from architecture and design to deployment and monitoring. You will drive cross-team reliability initiatives, improve the scalability of Wolt's platform, and design core services, shared libraries, internal tools, and platform-level enhancements that empower other teams and support the global consumer economy. Defining reliability best practices to make Wolt's systems more robust is also a key responsibility.

The ideal candidate has solid experience in backend development with Python, Go, or similar languages, and a passion for core engineering challenges such as system design, optimization, and scalability. Experience working on high-traffic, production systems is essential. Familiarity with reliability engineering or on-call practices is a plus. A strong ownership mindset, curiosity about system internals, excellent communication skills, and a pragmatic, product-oriented approach to solving real user problems are highly valued.
