Category Manager (WM)
The Category Manager at Wolt Market is responsible for building and managing the assortment and trading plan, including pricing and promotions, for the Norwegian market. This role involves developing strong relationships with suppliers and taking full ownership of category performance across assigned categories. The Category Manager works closely with Wolt Market stores to ensure the right assortment at every location, collaborates with the Content team and Supply Chain to maintain stock availability, and partners with retail stakeholders to optimize trading performance. Additional responsibilities include working with operations, marketing, and data teams to develop necessary reporting, data models, tools, and products to drive category performance in local stores.
Key responsibilities include full ownership of assigned category performance, encompassing forecasting, monitoring, and reporting on the business. The Category Manager contributes to driving projects and trading strategies to achieve business goals, defines and continuously updates Wolt Market’s assortment at a store level to meet customer needs and optimize order economics, and leads effective negotiations with suppliers to establish joint goals, improve cost structures, and sustainably grow the P&L. The role also involves influencing the design of categories, contributing to new product groups, improving the customer experience to drive growth, creating business plans for new opportunities, developing and executing project plans for the launch of new features, and working cross-functionally with counterparts across in-stock management, marketing, finance, and retail systems to operate and grow the business. Continual improvement and automation of manual processes are essential to enable the team to scale effectively as the business grows.
The ideal candidate possesses five years of solid experience in category management, with a proven track record of delivering results. A background in online grocery, traditional grocery retail, or e-commerce, ideally in fast-paced or scaling environments, is preferred. Strong communication skills and experience in negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders are essential. The candidate should have excellent analytical skills, the ability to think both commercially and operationally, and strong attention to detail. Full professional proficiency in Norwegian and English is required.
