Chief Legal Officer (Pacific Northwest or Hybrid) (964-SLS)
Our client, a highly regarded physician-led medical group in the Pacific Northwest, is seeking a Chief Legal Officer (CLO) to join their executive team. Reporting to the Executive Medical Director, the CLO will serve as the principal legal advisor, contributing to enterprise strategy, long-range planning, and major organizational decisions. This role offers the opportunity to lead the modernization and transformation of the legal function within a mission-driven healthcare organization.
The CLO will provide proactive, solution-oriented legal counsel across the enterprise, including healthcare regulatory law, corporate and transactional law, employment and labor law, quality and credentialing, telehealth and virtual care, Medicare and Medicaid compliance, and emerging care models. Key responsibilities include overseeing corporate governance activities, supporting Board and shareholder governance processes, and advising on organizational structure and risk management. Additionally, the CLO will lead legal strategy for strategic transactions, affiliations, joint ventures, acquisitions, and new market or service line development.
The ideal candidate will possess at least 10 years of legal experience with strong expertise in healthcare law and senior-level advisory roles. A Juris Doctor from an accredited law school is required, along with eligibility to practice law in Oregon and Washington, or the ability to obtain the right to practice law in these states within an agreed-upon timeframe. Demonstrated expertise in healthcare regulatory matters, corporate governance, contracting, risk management, and employment law is essential. The candidate should also have experience leading and developing high-performing legal teams and establishing best practices for legal operations.
This position offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary, target bonus, and generous benefits. The total compensation will vary depending on the candidate's level of seniority, years of directly relevant experience, and location. Some travel among offices is anticipated.
