New Leaf Energy, Inc. is seeking civil and environmental engineering juniors and seniors to join our Civil Engineering team as interns. As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with experienced engineers to assist in the review and design of renewable energy projects, including solar photovoltaic (PV), energy storage, and wind developments. This internship is based in our Lowell, Massachusetts office and is scheduled to begin in early June 2026.

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting site due diligence and researching local bylaws, creating plan sets using CAD software, designing site civil and stormwater systems, preparing permit applications, and providing general project support. These tasks will provide you with hands-on experience in the development of renewable energy projects and exposure to various aspects of civil engineering within the clean energy sector.

Candidates should be enrolled in a four-year ABET-accredited bachelor's degree program in Civil Engineering or a related field and be on track to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam for EIT certification. Applicants should be entering their third or fourth year of study and possess knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HYDROCAD or equivalent tools. The ability to work collaboratively in teams, follow directions, and occasionally visit project sites is essential. A passion for renewable energy is highly valued, and there is a preference for candidates who can extend the internship to at least six months with reduced hours during the academic year.

The hourly salary for this position in our Lowell location is $26.50. Please note that this internship is not eligible for benefits with New Leaf Energy.
