Cloud Platform Engineer
Capital on Tap is seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer to join their Developer Enablement team in London. This team is dedicated to creating efficient, secure, and self-service pathways from code repositories to production environments, enabling product engineers to focus on feature development rather than infrastructure concerns. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the developer experience by collaborating closely with product engineering teams to understand their workflows and identify areas for improvement.
In this role, your primary responsibilities will include spending time with product engineering teams to build relationships and gain insights into their development processes. Additionally, you will design and promote application golden paths, develop the Internal Developer Platform (IDP) to facilitate self-service provisioning, and drive the adoption of progressive delivery practices using tools like Flux. Setting standards for Kubernetes usage, configuration management, and service health checks will also be key aspects of your role.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in platform engineering, DevOps, or developer tooling, with a proven track record of building platforms or tools that other engineers rely on. Experience in designing and implementing golden paths, self-service platforms, and achieving team adoption is essential. A deep understanding of CI/CD at scale, particularly with tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Octopus Deploy, is required. Hands-on expertise with Kubernetes and Docker, including setting standards for deployment, is crucial. Familiarity with GitOps and progressive delivery tools like Flux, Argo CD, or Flagger is advantageous. Strong infrastructure and platform coding skills using tools like Terraform are necessary, along with proficiency in Go, C#, Python, or PowerShell.
