Contracts Attorney - Bankruptcy
AlixPartners is seeking a Contracts Attorney to join its Turnaround & Restructuring Services (TRS) Legal team in New York. This role involves structuring, launching, and managing high-stakes client engagements, collaborating closely with Legal, Compliance, and Risk colleagues, as well as TRS consultants and outside counsel, to navigate complex matters with speed, accuracy, and sound judgment.
Key responsibilities include drafting, reviewing, and negotiating engagement letters, agreements, non-disclosure agreements, disclaimers, and related documents for TRS clients. The attorney will also provide legal and risk reviews of reports prior to client issuance, draft and negotiate contingent fee terms, review Directors & Officers (D&O) insurance policies, prepare board resolutions, and coordinate with brokers and outside counsel for interim management engagements. Additionally, the role involves maintaining internal trackers for engagement letters and risk approvals, managing incoming requests through various communication tools, and supporting bankruptcy services provided by the TRS Legal team.
The ideal candidate will be a graduate of an accredited law school, licensed to practice law, with a minimum of four years of legal experience, including Chapter 11 bankruptcy experience. Deep experience in contracting and D&O insurance is required, along with proficiency in drafting engagement letters or contracts. The candidate should possess strong organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential, with knowledge of Ironclad and iManage preferred.

The base salary for this role ranges from $165,000 to $175,000 annually, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.
