Ladder is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our dynamic legal team. This role is pivotal in supporting our commercial legal functions, focusing on negotiating contracts with our partners to drive business growth. The position is remote-first, with a preference for candidates in the Bay Area to facilitate regular in-person team meetings.

The Corporate Counsel will be responsible for drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, including inbound and outbound contracts, nondisclosure agreements, and terms of use. Additionally, the role involves advising on legal matters related to product development, customer experience, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, and data privacy and security. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as partnerships, marketing, product, and finance is essential.

Candidates must possess a Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in at least one state bar. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department is required. The ideal candidate will demonstrate sound judgment, strong negotiation and analytical skills, and the ability to balance legal risks with business objectives. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are essential, along with a willingness to learn new areas of law. Experience with insurance regulatory law is a plus.
