Pilot Company is seeking a Counsel, Employment Law to provide comprehensive legal guidance on employment and labor matters, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves advising management and Human Resources on employee relations, mitigating legal risks, and supporting the organization's people strategies. The position is based at Pilot Company's headquarters in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Key responsibilities include advising on employment laws and regulations such as wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leave laws, and workplace accommodations. The role also involves drafting, reviewing, and updating employment-related policies, handbooks, agreements, and contracts. Additional duties encompass providing guidance on employee discipline, performance management, investigations, and terminations, as well as managing or supporting employment-related litigation, claims, and agency matters, including coordination with outside counsel.
Candidates should possess a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and an active Tennessee bar membership. A minimum of four years of experience practicing employment law, including immigration-related matters, is required. Applicants should have a working knowledge of U.S. employment-based immigration laws and compliance requirements, along with experience advising HR and business leaders in a corporate or law firm setting. Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to balance legal risk with practical business solutions, and litigation management experience are essential.
