The Counsel position at LA28 is a key role within the legal team, reporting to the Vice President, Deputy General Counsel. This role involves providing legal support for the Games Delivery functional area, including negotiations with venues and various commercial and governmental partners. The Counsel will also be responsible for negotiating operational contracts and drafting legal memoranda, contributing to the successful delivery of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Key responsibilities include supporting senior legal team members in business transactions and legal matters such as venue use agreements, architecture, engineering, design, and construction agreements, as well as agreements with governmental and other delivery partners. The role requires preparing, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of legal documents, including confidentiality agreements, memorandums of understanding, term sheets, master services agreements, statements of work, waivers, consents, real estate documents, and legal correspondence. Additionally, the Counsel will work closely with various departments to anticipate and manage legal risks, ensure compliance with relevant corporate and stakeholder documents, collaborate with outside counsel as needed, and stay informed on industry-wide legal trends and developments.

Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience in transactional legal matters, with prior experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting. Experience in construction, architecture and engineering, sports, real estate, live events, or public law is considered a plus. The role requires excellent analytical skills, the ability to identify and prioritize issues, and provide alternative solutions. Strong project and time management skills are essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing workloads and meet deadlines. A positive, team-oriented, and collaborative attitude is important, as well as a high level of personal integrity and professional ethics. Candidates should possess a concrete understanding of contract and corporate law, and business transactional principles, and have strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with various contacts, including outside attorneys, senior management, and business associates.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited university and a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
