Creative Lead - Indonesia
As Creative Lead for Indonesia at Canva, you will be responsible for shaping the creative direction and quality of our brand in the Indonesian market. This role involves building Canva's local presence through culturally resonant storytelling, impactful campaigns, and innovative ideas that capture attention. You will lead a small creative team, collaborate closely with Marketing and Growth departments, manage agency relationships, and work with cross-functional teams across various locations, including Indonesia, Bangkok, Manila, Sydney, and Singapore.
Your key responsibilities will include setting the creative strategy for Indonesia, focusing on social media channels like TikTok, brand campaigns, and continuous content development. You will generate standout ideas that build cultural relevance and have viral potential. Leading and mentoring a small creative team, providing clear direction and meaningful feedback, and managing local creative agencies to ensure high-quality output are also essential aspects of this role. Additionally, you will partner with Marketing and Growth teams on performance, brand, and social campaigns, support broader brand initiatives, and ensure all customer-facing communications are culturally relevant and empathetic.
The ideal candidate is a creative leader with 5–8+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating a proven track record of innovative thinking and hands-on execution. Native proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia and business-level English is required. Deep experience in social media, particularly TikTok, and an understanding of formats, culture, and trends that drive engagement in Indonesia are crucial. Experience in leading culturally resonant campaigns, managing or mentoring creatives, and thriving in fast-paced environments such as agencies, start-ups, or in-house teams at top brands is highly valued. A keen eye for current cultural trends in Indonesia and the creative judgment to act on them are also important.
