Data Architect
NetDocuments is seeking a Data Architect to lead the design and evolution of our enterprise data platform as we scale our legal document management solutions. In this role, you will define the architecture that powers how billions of documents are stored, processed, and surfaced, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security in a highly regulated environment. You will operate at the intersection of cloud transformation, large-scale distributed systems, and data governance, partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Security, and leadership to drive strategic data initiatives across the organization.
Key responsibilities include defining and driving the architectural strategy for migrating large-scale, on-premises data systems to AWS, including re-platforming and re-architecture efforts. You will establish migration patterns, data residency strategies, and cutover plans that minimize risk and downtime. Additionally, you will lead the architecture of large-scale NoSQL data systems, including Couchbase, DynamoDB, and related technologies, and oversee the design and governance of our Snowflake-based data platform, ensuring systems are optimized for performance, reliability, and cost efficiency at scale.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in data engineering, database engineering, or data architecture roles. Strong experience designing and scaling large-scale NoSQL databases such as Couchbase, DynamoDB, or similar technologies is essential. Deep expertise in building cloud-native data platforms on AWS, experience leading complex on-premises to cloud migration initiatives, and hands-on experience with event-driven architectures using Kafka, SQS, SNS, or similar technologies are also required. A strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization, along with excellent communication skills, is necessary.
