Data Center Technician- Pecos, TX
As a Data Center Technician I at Hut 8, you will work with state-of-the-art computing and networking equipment to ensure high uptime and perform basic repair services. This role involves learning existing network technologies, adapting to changes, and staying current with developing technologies. An analytical mindset is essential for effective troubleshooting and diagnosing issues to maintain optimal machine uptime and turnaround times. Under general supervision, you will perform routine maintenance to keep the facility safe and clean, operating various maintenance and cleaning tools as directed by the Associate Manager or Manager of Data Center Operations.
Key responsibilities include performing general facility duties, understanding site operations and infrastructure, conducting basic miner diagnostics and repairs, utilizing introductory mechanical skills and miner tools, executing basic repairs, applying basic data analysis skills, flashing firmware, and completing projects as assigned by the supervisor or operations manager.
The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent and 1-3+ years of experience in IT/computer hardware, systems/electrical engineering, network administration, and/or troubleshooting. Experience in Bitcoin mining farms and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish are pluses. A basic understanding of IP addressing, subnets, small electronics, or medium to low voltage electrical systems is required. Candidates must demonstrate problem-solving abilities, diligence, hard work, teamwork, and flexibility. The role requires being on your feet for over 7 hours per day, the ability to lift/carry 30-50 lbs, and tolerance to harsh conditions, including indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures and conditions. A motor vehicle check is required, and candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the designated work site location.
