Data Engineer (Web Scraping & Data Ingestion)

AlertMedia is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to lead the design, maintenance, and optimization of large-scale web scraping and data ingestion pipelines. This role is pivotal in sourcing real-time data from open-source platforms and social media to support the company's mission of providing timely threat intelligence and emergency communication solutions.

The Data Engineer will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable ETL and data processing pipelines, addressing challenges such as anti-bot protections, rate limiting, schema changes, and data quality issues. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to ensure that the ingested data meets both customer and business requirements.

Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, along with 4 to 6 years of experience in data engineering or backend engineering roles. Proficiency in Python, experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, and a solid understanding of databases like Postgres or Redis are required. Familiarity with stream processing architectures and search/data indexing systems like Elasticsearch is advantageous.
