Data Engineering Intern (AI & Automation)
Rocket Lawyer is seeking a forward-thinking Data Engineering Intern to join our team for Summer 2026. This role offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of core infrastructure and artificial intelligence, focusing on building robust ETL processes while leveraging AI technologies to automate workflows. As part of our dynamic team, you will contribute to enhancing our platform, which has served over 30 million people worldwide.
In this position, you will design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines to ingest data into our Snowflake warehouse using Python, SQL, and Airflow. You will implement AI-powered solutions to streamline engineering tasks, such as automating code generation and documentation, building AI-driven data quality checks, and developing self-healing pipelines that identify and alert on ingestion errors. Additionally, you will create high-impact dashboards in Tableau and use tools like Jupyter Notebooks and Streamlit to analyze data and build internal tools that inform product decisions.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related quantitative field, with a targeted graduation date in 2026 or early 2027. Proficiency in Python and SQL is essential, along with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL orchestration tools like Airflow. Familiarity with cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, and analytical tools such as Jupyter Notebooks and Tableau is also desired. A proactive approach to using AI and large language models to automate tasks and improve system reliability will be highly valued.
This internship is remote, but candidates must be located in California, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, or Utah during the program. The duration is from June 8, 2026, to August 14, 2026, working 40 hours per week. Compensation varies by location, with hourly rates ranging from $40.00 to $50.00. Actual compensation packages are determined by various factors unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, certifications, specific work location, and performance during the interview process.
