Data Scientist - Intelligent Experiences, MLO

Apple's Machine Learning (ML) Data team within the Intelligent System Experience (ISE) group is seeking a Data Scientist to develop high-quality datasets that train machine learning features across various Apple products, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods. This role contributes to enhancing user experiences such as personalized wallpapers, iMessage stickers, on-device Genmoji, and facial recognition in Photos.

The Data Scientist will design and manage the entire data lifecycle for training, fine-tuning, and evaluating large language models and diffusion models. Responsibilities include building distributed pipelines to clean, deduplicate, and enrich extensive multi-modal datasets, creating synthetic data generation pipelines with LLM-based generators, and developing agentic workflows that scale human judgment across large datasets.

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related engineering field, with over five years of hands-on experience applying NLP, computer vision, or multimodal machine learning to production systems, including large-scale data pipelines. Preferred qualifications include experience with LLMs or vision-language/diffusion models, parameter-efficient fine-tuning, and strong software engineering skills in Python, workflow orchestration, cloud platforms, and distributed data processing frameworks.

The base pay for this role ranges from $150,400 to $277,600 annually, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
