The Deputy General Counsel, Real Estate at Plus Power leads the legal support for the Real Estate Team within the Development Department, focusing on utility-scale energy storage projects across North America. This role involves providing strategic legal guidance on site acquisition, real estate de-risking activities, and representing real estate legal matters in project financings and tax equity investments. The position offers the opportunity to collaborate with various functional groups, including Development, Permitting, Interconnection, EPC, Finance, and O&M teams.

Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating real property agreements such as option to purchase agreements, leases, easements, and amendments. The role also involves resolving complex title and survey issues, supporting site acquisition closings, and providing legal representation for real estate matters in project financings and tax equity investments. Additionally, the Deputy General Counsel will lead and mentor the Counsel, Real Estate, and oversee local and external counsel.

The ideal candidate holds a J.D. degree and has at least 2-3 years of experience within a top-tier law firm in a commercial real estate practice group, along with 3-5 years of experience supporting real estate efforts for utility-scale renewable energy development. Extensive experience in drafting and negotiating real property agreements, title and survey review, and negotiating title insurance policies for energy projects is essential. A strong track record in supporting real estate matters in complex project financings and advising on real estate aspects of complex M&A transactions is also required.
