Deputy MLRO
The Deputy MLRO at Capital on Tap will play a pivotal role within the Financial Crime Compliance team, supporting the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) in developing and managing anti-money laundering (AML) policies and procedures. This position is integral to ensuring the company's compliance with statutory obligations and aligning risk management practices with the company's risk appetite.
Key responsibilities include providing expert guidance to first and second-line operational functions, reviewing escalations related to suspicious activities, sanctions, politically exposed persons (PEPs), adverse media, complex ownership structures, and high-risk customers. The Deputy MLRO will act as a subject matter expert on current and emerging regulatory obligations, liaise with external stakeholders such as law enforcement and regulators, develop targeted training programs, contribute to the management information framework, and maintain onboarding and due diligence controls.
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of complex ownership structures for SMEs in the UK and US, strong investigative skills, effective communication abilities across all organizational levels, and experience managing multiple projects within financial crime and product development. Deep technical knowledge of AML/CTF regulations, proficiency in assessing client risk profiles, and previous management experience within financial crime are essential. Desirable qualifications include strong presentation skills, experience with SQL and Excel, and industry accreditations such as an ICA Diploma or ACAMs certification.
