Designer
Thinking Machines Lab is seeking a Designer to shape the user experience of our artificial intelligence products. As part of our team of scientists, engineers, and builders, you will contribute to our mission of empowering humanity through collaborative general intelligence. Your role will involve designing intuitive and empowering AI model experiences that reflect our commitment to advancing AI accessibility.
In this position, you will be responsible for crafting end-to-end product experiences, from initial concepts and high-fidelity prototypes to final UI implementation in code. You will also contribute to our design system, enabling the team to maintain high standards of craft while moving quickly. Collaborating with AI researchers, you will participate in model training and evaluation to guide model behavior, and assist with brand storytelling, demos, and external-facing materials as needed.
The ideal candidate will possess a portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual craft and strong interaction design skills. Proficiency in coding and the ability to ship your own work are essential. A track record of taking ownership in dynamic situations and an interest in AI development, including evaluations and model behavior, are also required. Preferred qualifications include experience with production frameworks like React or Swift, familiarity with machine learning concepts, and prior design work on AI products or novel interaction paradigms.
This role is based in San Francisco, California. Depending on background, skills, and experience, the expected annual salary range is $350,000 to $475,000 USD.
