FGS Global is seeking a highly organized and strategic Director of Business Development to support our Compliance and Litigation Sub-Practice leadership. This individual will play a critical operational and strategic role in driving the practice forward by raising its profile in the legal community, with particular emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with law firms, general counsel, corporate directors, and other key stakeholders in the litigation ecosystem. This is a non-client-facing role focused on growing and managing our most important referral network, helping define how the practice goes to market, and enabling our senior litigation partners to maximize their business development impact.

Key responsibilities include serving as the primary driver of our law firm engagement strategy, developing and managing a rolling 12-month roadmap of law firm meetings and other engagements for Compliance and Litigation Sub-Practice leaders, and arranging meetings for practice leaders. The role also involves extending the law firm engagement model to general counsel, boards of directors, and litigation funders, developing and driving targeted outreach strategies for each stakeholder group, and identifying trending topics and emerging issues in the legal marketplace for positioning and thought leadership opportunities. Additionally, the Director will strategize and coordinate presence at legal conferences and industry events, oversee the Compliance and Litigation materials subcommittee, and track business development metrics to provide regular reporting on pipeline development.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree and 5-10 years of experience in law firm business development or a business development role at a professional services organization with significant legal sector exposure. Alternative backgrounds may include experience as a law firm attorney with litigation and business development experience or as a business development professional at another professional services organization. Deep familiarity with the litigation landscape, including key practice areas such as white-collar, employment, mass tort, antitrust, and intellectual property, is essential. The candidate should possess exceptional organizational skills, strategic thinking abilities, strong project management capabilities, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A self-starter with a strong initiative, entrepreneurial mindset, and competitive spirit is highly desirable.

The role will be based in New York or Washington, D.C., with an expectation of at least three days per week in the office. The Director will report to the Chief Global Growth Officer, based in Zurich, with a dotted line to the leadership team of the Compliance and Litigation Sub-Practice. The position offers the opportunity to become part of a newly created team with an entrepreneurial spirit, a collaborative and inclusive work environment in a global firm with well-articulated and ambitious growth plans, and a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience. Benefits include an annual profit-sharing model, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a generous company match, and generous time off benefits, including flexible vacation, parental leave, and sabbatical.
