Director, Cell Product Development

The role is based in Cheonan, South Korea, and involves managing multiple cell design teams responsible for different cell types, ensuring designs meet all requirements before manufacturing handoff. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, particularly in the battery industry, and experience leading teams of scientists and engineers.
Key responsibilities include leading product development from concept through validation, executing root cause analyses for design improvements, and implementing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) processes. The Director will also oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), conduct Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and support the scale-up and mass production of Factorial's Quasi-Solid State (FEST) Batteries. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including OEM customers and production teams, is essential to ensure design capabilities align with manufacturing processes.
Candidates should have over five years of experience in lithium-ion battery product development, with a mandatory focus on silicon or Li metal chemistry, and at least two years in a management or leadership role. Experience in mass production of lithium batteries is required, along with strong written and verbal communication skills in English. The position requires full-time, on-site presence in South Korea, with occasional late-night overlap to coordinate with the U.S. team.
