Director, Commercial Legal
Remote is seeking a Director of Commercial Legal to lead and expand its commercial legal function. This role involves building a team and establishing processes for contract management, negotiations, and scaling commercial legal operations. The position reports directly to the General Counsel and is fully remote, offering flexibility for candidates across various locations.
In this role, you will oversee all commercial legal activities, including drafting, negotiating, and finalizing a wide range of agreements such as customer contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership deals. You will collaborate closely with Sales, Revenue Operations, and Finance teams to ensure that legal terms align with business objectives and facilitate deal closures. Additionally, you will be responsible for developing scalable contracting frameworks, implementing contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems, and creating training materials to empower business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified lawyer with extensive in-house experience supporting commercial teams, particularly in a B2B SaaS or cloud environment. A minimum of 10 years in drafting and negotiating enterprise commercial agreements is required. Experience in building commercial legal infrastructure, such as CLM systems and playbooks, is essential. Strong business judgment, people management skills, and a passion for process improvement and automation are also important.
