Director, Contracts Counsel
Disc Medicine is seeking an experienced and highly motivated attorney to join our Legal team as Director, Contracts Counsel. This role offers a dynamic hybrid work environment, combining remote work with time at our headquarters in Watertown, MA. As a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, Disc Medicine is dedicated to developing innovative treatments for serious hematologic diseases by targeting fundamental biological pathways of red blood cell biology.
In this position, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of life sciences agreements, including master service agreements, research and development agreements, manufacturing agreements, license agreements, consulting agreements, confidentiality agreements, clinical trial agreements, work orders, and other vendor agreements. You will collaborate extensively with various departments, such as commercial, medical, clinical, and finance, to ensure efficient contract execution that aligns with corporate goals. Additionally, you will proactively identify and mitigate legal, financial, and reputational risks inherent in contract terms and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
The ideal candidate will possess a J.D. from a nationally accredited law school and admission in good standing to any state bar in the United States. A minimum of 10-12 years of relevant experience in an in-house legal department within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry is required. Strong negotiation, contract interpretation, and drafting skills are essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. The candidate should demonstrate the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment and maintain a commitment to professionalism and ethical conduct. Experience in an emerging, publicly traded company environment is a plus.
Disc Medicine offers a competitive annual base salary ranging from $203,000 to $249,000, determined by factors such as qualifications, experience, education, and internal parity. We provide comprehensive benefits and a flexible work environment that supports both personal and professional growth.
