Director, Internal Controls
The Director of Internal Controls at StubHub will lead the development and maturation of the company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) program, internal control framework, risk management processes, and regulatory compliance as a newly public entity. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effectiveness of financial and IT controls, including oversight of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and their impact on financial reporting. The position reports directly to the Chief Accounting Officer and involves close collaboration with senior management, process and control owners, the Audit Committee, and external auditors.
Key responsibilities include managing the company's co-sourced internal controls relationship with a Big Four accounting firm, coordinating with external auditors to align efforts, leading annual SOX walkthrough processes, overseeing ongoing monitoring and testing of internal controls, reviewing testing workpapers, and leading remediation of identified material weaknesses and deficiencies. The Director will also lead training programs related to internal controls and SOX compliance, build and maintain relationships with process and control owners, and prepare periodic update reports to senior management and other stakeholders.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, along with professional certifications such as CPA and/or CIA. A minimum of 10 years of related audit and accounting experience, preferably gained in both Big Four public accounting and private industry, is required. Strong understanding of SOX Section 404 and SEC requirements related to internal control over financial reporting, experience remediating material weaknesses and significant deficiencies, and knowledge of IT General Controls (ITGCs) are essential. The role also demands strong knowledge of the internal control framework (specifically COSO), US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP), and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with business leaders across the organization.
The compensation package includes a base annual salary ranging from $220,000 to $275,000, along with stock incentives, unlimited Flex Time Off, 401(k) plans, and comprehensive health, vision, and dental insurance options. This role offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to StubHub's growth and success as a newly public company.
