Director, International Trade Compliance
The Director of International Trade Compliance at Anduril Industries will lead the development and implementation of trade compliance policies and infrastructure to ensure that engineering and program development align with international regulations. This role involves coordinating with external partners, including customers, suppliers, and government agencies, to align product roadmaps with compliance requirements. The Director will also perform compliance assessments to identify and mitigate risks associated with export/import authorizations and transactions.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing trade compliance policies, coordinating with external partners to ensure product roadmaps align with compliance requirements, developing country-specific classification methodologies, leveraging AI for rapid risk-mitigated determinations, supporting the release of technology and data to stakeholders, deploying and maintaining country-specific training curricula, applying for and managing export authorizations, overseeing compliance with license scopes and conditions, supporting logistics teams on hardware exports and imports, providing guidance and training on relevant regulations, performing compliance assessments, leading working groups and projects to enhance the ITC program, implementing corrective actions from compliance issues, navigating co-production and co-development projects across multiple countries, managing defense export portals, evaluating commodities for export license eligibility, communicating with regulators and outside counsel, staying updated on regulatory changes, and providing guidance on sharing technical information across borders.
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in product development, defense technology, startups, or defense contracting, and over 5 years in trade compliance, international trade controls, or international contracts management. A strong understanding of U.S. and non-U.S. export regulations, including classifications related to aerospace parts, electronics, computers, IT equipment, encryption technology, and navigational hardware, is essential. The candidate should possess the ability to travel over 25% of the time and have the capability to obtain and maintain an NV2 Security Clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with AUKUS partnership frameworks, customs and import filings, group 3-5 UAS, UUVs, or robotic systems product development, government contracts, managing development infrastructure and training technical teams, designing and implementing technology control plans, understanding of Lean Product and Process Development, Agile Software Development, and Lean Production, knowledge of exportability considerations, and understanding of Missile Technology Control Regime (MTCR) guidelines.
