Director, Legal - Data and Content
AlphaSense is seeking a Director, Legal - Data and Content to lead our data and content legal function. This role involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial data and content contracts, as well as developing and managing a small team to scale the department's output. The position is remote within the United States, with a preference for East Coast candidates.
Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating sell-side research licensing agreements, exchange and financial data/content agreements, distribution and aggregation agreements, and vendor contracts related to global content acquisition and licensing. The Director will also serve as a trusted legal advisor to internal stakeholders, including senior executives, providing expert guidance on content and data rights and strategy.
Candidates must possess a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and be in good standing with a state bar. A minimum of 8 years' experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating content/data licensing agreements is required, preferably with in-house experience at a broker-dealer, investment bank, or financial data provider. Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to intellectual property, financial data/research, compliance, financial regulation, securities, and privacy is essential.
The base compensation range for this role is $220,000 to $240,000 USD. Additional compensation may include a performance-based bonus, equity, and a generous benefits program.
