The Director of M&A at Banyan Software leads multiple acquisitions annually, from initial evaluation to post-closing integration. This role involves meeting with business owners to assess alignment with Banyan's acquisition criteria and determining company valuations. Post-acquisition, the Director is responsible for strategic planning and implementing key operational improvements. Working closely with the origination team, operating partners, and finance team, the Director is expected to lead and expand the M&A function within their industry vertical, providing senior leadership and direction to the team.

Key responsibilities include meeting with software business owners to present Banyan's value proposition, leading acquisition processes from Letter of Intent (LOI) to closing, analyzing financial data to prepare valuation models, and leading due diligence efforts to identify risks and opportunities. The Director will also manage internal resources and external vendors, oversee post-acquisition integration by implementing best practices, nurture relationships with business brokers and bankers to support business development, and build an M&A team to develop a specialized vertical.

The ideal candidate has proven experience as an M&A leader, having executed multiple buy-side transactions in the software and technology sector in France. They should possess the ability and willingness to strategically influence leadership, grow the team, and develop the region, while also being comfortable handling transactions as the first execution headcount in the region. A CA/CPA and/or MBA is considered an asset. The candidate should be able to quickly evaluate key risks and opportunities in a business, negotiate and execute acquisitions with business owners and executives, and have financial literacy with the ability to create presentations for executive and board-level audiences. Business-level fluency in both written and spoken English and French is required. While there is no physical office in France yet, the position will be based in Paris, and candidates should be comfortable working in a hybrid capacity, ideally spending 2-3 days a week in the office.
