Director of AI
The Director of AI at Banyan Software will lead the AI Factory program, a centralized initiative aimed at modernizing legacy applications across the company's extensive portfolio. This role involves overseeing product strategy, field engineering, and platform operations to transform aging codebases into modern, cloud-native platforms. The Director will report to the VP of Engineering and manage a team including Forward Deployed Engineers and a Project Manager/Scrum Master.
Key responsibilities include owning the AI Factory's end-to-end program lifecycle, defining and tracking program-level KPIs, and continuously refining the factory's operating model based on field learnings. The Director will also recruit, hire, and develop the Forward Deployed Engineering team, author the engagement playbook, and personally lead early engagements to drive modernization efforts. Additionally, the role involves managing and mentoring direct reports, building a culture of ownership and craftsmanship, and presenting to and aligning with operating company CEOs, CTOs, and product leaders.
The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of progressive software engineering experience, with a minimum of 3 years in both technical delivery and program management. Experience leading application modernization or digital transformation initiatives, particularly in multi-product or multi-company environments, is essential. Hands-on proficiency with cloud-native architectures, CI/CD tooling, infrastructure as code, and DevSecOps practices is required. Strong executive communication skills and the ability to influence without formal authority are also critical.
Banyan Software offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary ranging from $250,000 to $300,000 USD, excluding annual bonus and equity.
