Director of Corporate Accounting & Public Reporting
The Director of Corporate Accounting & Public Reporting at Galaxy will lead a cross-functional team of 6–10 professionals, overseeing corporate accounting and public reporting functions. This role involves daily collaboration with the Chief Accounting Officer, external auditors, and various business teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. The director will be responsible for the end-to-end preparation and filing of 10-K, 10-Q, and related SEC filings, working closely with auditors to finalize technical positions before reporting periods close. A deep understanding of transaction flows from source systems through the general ledger is essential, as is proficiency with AI tools to enhance research, draft memos, and synthesize complex guidance.
Key responsibilities include managing and developing the corporate accounting and public reporting team, allocating resources to balance close, reporting, and project work. The director will maintain and improve documentation and controls to support SOX compliance and audit readiness, drive continuous improvement in close efficiency and reporting quality, and champion the adoption of AI tools. Additionally, the role encompasses leading technical accounting research for complex transactions, interpreting new accounting standards, and coordinating earnings releases while supporting investor relations with accurate financial data.
Candidates must possess a CPA license and have over 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting and hands-on SEC reporting. A deep working knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required, along with proven experience in preparing technical accounting memos and supporting external audits. Experience in managing and developing teams of six or more direct or indirect reports is essential. Proficiency with AI tools for research, drafting, and workflow acceleration is also required. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary to explain complex accounting concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and high standards for documentation, controls, and audit readiness are expected.
The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $200,000 to $275,000, commensurate with experience and expertise.
