Director, Product Design - Hospitality & Restaurant Platform
OpenTable is seeking a Director of Product Design to lead the design efforts across our Hospitality & Restaurant Platform teams. This senior leadership role involves managing a global team of nine designers, including two direct reports, and collaborating closely with cross-functional partners to deliver impactful experiences for restaurants and diners worldwide. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Product Design & Research, this position offers the opportunity to shape our UX strategy and drive innovation within the organization.
Key responsibilities include leading and developing a high-performing design team by mentoring and supporting designers and design managers in their professional growth. The role also involves setting and maintaining design quality standards from initial concepts through to product launch, ensuring excellence across all product areas. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with Product, Engineering, and Research teams to align on strategic direction, build consensus, and achieve outcomes that benefit both users and the business.
The ideal candidate will possess hands-on product design experience with a strong portfolio demonstrating significant impact at scale. Deep expertise in both native applications and web experiences is essential, along with exceptional visual design skills and strong systems thinking. Strategic and communication abilities are crucial, including proficiency in stakeholder management, building alignment across multiple teams, and delivering compelling presentations to executive audiences. A proven track record in growing and mentoring designers and design managers, fostering collaboration, and building trust across disciplines is also required.
