The Director of Product Development - Edibles at Green Thumb Industries (GTI) leads the edibles product development team, overseeing the creation of new products from concept to commercialization. This role involves translating product briefs into successful formulations, managing sensory evaluation processes, and ensuring product specifications maintain high quality. The team comprises food scientists and culinary experts, fostering a culture of creativity and continuous improvement. Collaboration with innovation, consumer insights, and implementation teams is essential to deliver products that delight consumers and are scalable.

Key responsibilities include developing and executing new product strategies aligned with business objectives, driving innovation to meet market demands, and managing the end-to-end product development process. This involves translating product briefs into finished products, leading concept development, ingredient selection, and bench formulation. The director is also responsible for building and refining sensory sampling and evaluation processes, vetting new ingredients and suppliers, and developing product specifications. Additionally, the role requires managing the offsite test kitchen, ensuring safe kitchen practices, and staying current with industry trends to drive innovation.

Candidates should possess expertise in food science, sensory evaluation, and consumer packaged goods (CPG) product development. Strong leadership skills are essential for recruiting, mentoring, and managing a team of professionals, including food scientists. The role requires occasional flexibility in working hours for sensory sessions, bench trials, or product testing, and up to 10% travel to different manufacturing facilities within the GTI network.

Compensation and benefits include a 25% employee discount at RISE dispensaries, comprehensive health coverage (medical, dental, and vision), life and disability insurance, and access to wellness programs. Paid time off and paid holidays are standard, with some locations offering around three weeks to start and certain headquarters roles reporting unlimited PTO. Instances of paid parental leave are also documented. However, the 401(k) plan is offered without an employer match, which may affect long-term savings support.

Green Thumb Industries promotes a culture of well-being through the power of cannabis, with a commitment to giving back to the communities it serves. The company operates over 110 retail locations and 20 manufacturing facilities across 14 U.S. markets. GTI's "Growing for Good" program focuses on community engagement, inclusion and belonging, restorative justice, and environmental stewardship. Employees are encouraged to support and volunteer with local nonprofit organizations, fostering a sense of purpose and community involvement.
