Director, Product Management - Payment Application Solutions
The Director of Product Management for Payment Application Solutions at Verifone is responsible for overseeing the semi-integrated and fully integrated payment application portfolio in North America. This role serves a diverse clientele, including Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), partners, enterprise retailers, quick-service restaurants (QSRs), and financial institutions. As an individual contributor, the director combines strategic product management, technical program management, and product commercialization to drive the development and delivery of payment solutions.
Key responsibilities encompass portfolio ownership, where the director manages and prioritizes the payment application portfolio, builds and publishes quarterly roadmaps, and ensures alignment with business objectives. The role also involves product definition and requirements, including writing Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), supporting business analysts during the Business Requirement Document (BRD) process, and serving as the product owner for the payment application backlog. Additionally, the director partners with engineering teams to define scope, requirements, milestones, and delivery sequencing for large multi-quarter initiatives, actively driving technical implementation and managing dependencies.
Candidates should possess over 10 years of experience in product management, technical program management, or related technical product roles within the payments industry. Expertise in card-present, in-store payment environments, including POS and ECR integration, payment terminals, and the in-store transaction lifecycle, is essential. A deep understanding of both semi-integrated and fully integrated payment application architectures, as well as direct experience with EMV certification processes, is required. Technical fluency, including the ability to interpret technical specifications and engage in discussions with engineering teams, is crucial. Proficiency in tools such as Jira and Confluence for backlog and roadmap management, as well as experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies, is also necessary.
