Employment Counsel
Anthropic is seeking an exceptional Employment Counsel to join our team in New York City or Washington, DC. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our People team, business leaders, and technical stakeholders to develop and manage employment programs that empower high performers to excel. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of law firm and in-house experience, demonstrating the ability to create scalable processes and work effectively across diverse teams in a dynamic environment.
Key responsibilities include advising the People team and managers on a broad spectrum of U.S. employment legal matters, such as compensation, benefits, performance management, leaves of absence, and contingent worker issues. You will implement and oversee compliant employment programs that foster a culture of high performance aligned with Anthropic's values and People philosophy. Additionally, you will craft clear and comprehensive policies and communications that translate complex employment law concepts into actionable guidance for stakeholders across the organization.
The successful candidate will possess a J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar. A minimum of 7 years of employment law experience, including both law firm and in-house roles, is required. Strong organizational skills, exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, and a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach are essential. Preferred qualifications include active membership in the California or New York state bar, experience in a technology company or fast-paced environment, and familiarity with international employment legal matters.
Anthropic offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $265,000 to $320,000 USD, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
