Engineering Manager, Email
Braze is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Email team, responsible for building and maintaining the core infrastructure that delivers billions of personalized emails monthly to our customers' end users. This includes developing a highly parallelized platform for email personalization and delivery at scale, managing REST APIs for user subscriptions, creating web pages for end-user preference management, and designing dashboards for customer email domain configuration.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to develop new features based on customer feedback and scale the email channel as message volume grows. You will recruit, coach, and develop team members, guide key architectural decisions, and, when necessary, contribute code to solve major engineering challenges. Additionally, you will have broad responsibility for the team's vision, goals, and processes.
The ideal candidate has over 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong track record of success, including at least 2 years leading high-performing teams. You should thrive on autonomy and responsibility, possess the ability to delve into technical details to inform decisions, and communicate effectively to make hard decisions and trade-offs. Experience in building foundational systems at scale and spearheading software projects that significantly advanced organizational goals is essential. Professional experience with technologies such as Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, JavaScript, or React is a plus.
