Executive Director/Vice President, Corporate Counsel
Coherus Oncology, a public, fully integrated commercial-stage innovative oncology company, is seeking an Executive Director/Vice President, Corporate Counsel to join their team in Redwood City, CA. Reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer, this senior contracting attorney will have primary responsibility for managing the contracting function at Coherus, including negotiating and drafting contracts in collaboration with business partners and administering and improving the company's contracting processes and procedures. The individual will work closely with the Chief Legal Officer; collaborate with strategic business partners in the CEO’s office, business development, supply chain, clinical development, medical affairs, commercial, and other functions; and will manage a paralegal and external resources as needed.
Key responsibilities include negotiating and drafting agreements and licenses of all types in collaboration with various Coherus functions, such as clinical trial, manufacturing, supply, service, material transfer, scientific collaboration, business development, consulting, partnership, and confidentiality agreements. The role also involves advising on contract status, legal risks, and liabilities associated with different transactions, as well as participating as a proactive business partner to all Coherus functions to build trusted advisor relationships with employees at all levels. Additionally, the position entails overseeing the administration of the contract database, monitoring compliance with contracts, maintaining and refining contract templates, developing and conducting training for employees on legal aspects of contracts, and providing litigation support.
The ideal candidate will possess a law degree from an ABA-accredited law school and be admitted to the California bar in good standing or registered as in-house counsel. A minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience as a practicing lawyer with a well-regarded law firm and/or in-house department is required, with at least 5 years of pharmaceutical experience preferred. The candidate should have the ability to draft, edit, and explain complex legal and business contracts and documents, communicate professionally and effectively both orally and in writing, and think analytically, creatively, and strategically. Strong work ethic, ability to work well under pressure, teamwork, project management, and client service skills are essential. The candidate should also be able to independently juggle and prioritize multiple projects with cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced environment and have excellent interpersonal skills to work positively and collaboratively with all levels within the organization.
The base salary range for this position is $290,000 to $350,000. Coherus considers various factors, including professional background and work experience, when determining base pay.
