As a Fleet Van Operator at Bird in Edmonton, Alberta, you will be integral to managing our fleet of e-scooters and e-bikes, ensuring they are accessible and operational for the community's transportation needs. Utilizing Bird's mobile technology, your role involves monitoring, transporting, rebalancing, and swapping batteries for our devices, thereby maintaining a safe and environmentally friendly mode of transportation for riders. This position is ideal for self-motivated individuals who excel in autonomous work environments, possess strong time-management skills, and enjoy daily driving responsibilities.

Your daily tasks will include safely loading, unloading, driving, and operating a company vehicle to transport scooters and bikes, following mobile app-guided routes. You will support operations and logistics by deploying the fleet in vans, staging in the warehouse, and collecting scooters from the field. Additionally, you will relocate scooters from low to high-demand areas promptly, conduct regular quality and performance checks on both scooters and company vehicles, perform basic diagnostics to identify necessary repairs on damaged or malfunctioning scooters, and ensure all docked and warehoused vehicles are charging according to Bird’s safety procedures. Collaboration with team members to achieve shift goals, participation in quality assurance and testing for new product and feature releases, and maintaining clear communication through in-person interactions and the mobile app are also key components of this role.

To be considered for this position, you must hold a valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record and have strong familiarity with Edmonton's streets and roadways. The role requires physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks involving stooping, bending, walking, and standing for extended periods. Strong organizational skills are essential. While not mandatory, 1-3 years of experience driving larger vehicles (such as cargo vans or U-Haul trucks) and a basic understanding of vehicle maintenance are highly desired.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage of 18.00 CAD. Bird is committed to fostering a collaborative and community-focused work environment, emphasizing sustainability and innovation in urban mobility. Joining Bird means contributing to a mission that aims to make cities more livable by providing cleaner, more connected transportation options.

Bird's culture is centered around four core pillars: Freedom, Exploration, Community, and Sustainability. By becoming a part of our team, you will play a role in reducing gas-powered car usage, lowering carbon emissions, and enhancing the safety of all road users. This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is passionate about transforming urban transportation and making a tangible impact on the environment and communities.
