Helsing is a defense AI company dedicated to protecting democracies through technological leadership, enabling open societies to make sovereign decisions while upholding ethical standards. As a Flight Control Laws Engineer, you will join a committed team of engineers and AI specialists focused on delivering AI-based capabilities that enhance machine perception and assist human decision-making. This role involves working within a small team responsible for the architecture, development, and flight testing of flight control laws for aerial platforms.

In this position, you will own the full cycle of flight control laws development, from requirements definition and implementation to integration and testing. Your responsibilities will include contributing to control architectures based on high-level product needs, performing linear and nonlinear design and verification, conducting clearance testing, integrating and testing on target hardware, supporting risk and safety assessments, improving processes and tools for flight control, and analyzing flight tests to address findings.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent field and possesses at least five years of professional experience in flight control law development within fly-by-wire programs. Proficiency in Matlab/Simulink, a solid background in aerodynamics and flight dynamics, familiarity with ARP 4754A and DO-178C standards, excellent communication skills, and strong software engineering abilities are essential. Additional experience with hardware integration, a private pilot license, or flying RC model planes is advantageous.

Helsing offers a focus on outcomes rather than time-tracking, competitive compensation and stock options, relocation support, social and education allowances, regular company events, and a comprehensive onboarding program. The company fosters an open and transparent culture that encourages healthy debates on the use of technology in defense, its benefits, and ethical implications. Joining Helsing means contributing directly to the protection of democratic countries while engaging in unique engineering and AI challenges that make a meaningful impact in the world.
