Forward Deployed Engineer
The Forward Deployed Engineer at Huntress is a pivotal role within the Innovation team, dedicated to enhancing operational efficiency across the company. This position involves collaborating with various departments—including engineering, sales, security operations, and support—to identify and implement high-impact solutions that streamline workflows and reduce manual effort. Huntress, founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, is a remote-first cybersecurity firm committed to making enterprise-grade security accessible to businesses of all sizes.
In this role, you will be responsible for identifying, pitching, and executing innovation projects that deliver measurable business impact. This includes embedding with teams to understand their workflows, diagnosing bottlenecks, and building full-stack solutions that integrate with existing infrastructure and data pipelines. You will also create playbooks, self-service documentation, and internal demos to facilitate the adoption of new workflows at scale, and transition successful projects to permanent owners with the necessary context for long-term maintenance.
The ideal candidate will possess strong ownership and agency, capable of leading efforts independently. A systems-first thinking approach is essential, with the ability to map complex systems end-to-end before building solutions. Experience in full-stack engineering, particularly with Ruby on Rails and Golang, is highly preferred. Additionally, the candidate should have a track record of delivering in stages, transitioning projects cleanly, and communicating effectively across diverse audiences.
Huntress offers a competitive compensation package, with a base salary ranging from $215,000 to $250,000, plus bonus and equity. Benefits include a 100% remote work environment, generous paid time off, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans, a 401(k) with a 5% contribution regardless of employee contribution, and a $500 reimbursement for home office setup.
