Forward Deployed Engineer Lead
Banyan Software is seeking an exceptional full-stack software engineer to serve as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) Lead. In this pivotal role, the FDE Lead will act as the critical interface between the central AI Application Modernization Factory and various application teams. The position involves developing and managing a team of FDEs, establishing playbooks, and codifying best practices to drive the modernization of key applications. This high-impact role requires advanced software engineering skills, deep knowledge of cloud-native patterns, and proven expertise in consultation, change management, and building strong rapport with diverse teams.
Key responsibilities include embedding with application teams to provide hands-on technical leadership, driving the design, development, and delivery of modernization efforts to AWS cloud-native architectures. The FDE Lead will direct and manage a team of FDEs, overseeing performance management, career development, and mentoring. Additionally, the role involves acting as the subject matter expert on AI Modernization Factory's tools and processes, driving the adoption of AI-assisted software development practices, and ensuring adherence to engineering standards such as Twelve-Factor App principles and DevSecOps practices.
The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of progressive experience in software engineering, focusing on enterprise applications and application modernization. Strong hands-on experience across the full application stack is essential, with expert proficiency in modern programming languages such as Python, TypeScript, C#, or Java. Deep practical experience in building and deploying scalable applications on AWS, along with strong proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform, is required. Proven ability to onboard rapidly, assess team dynamics, influence technical direction without formal authority, and drive organizational change within established engineering teams is also crucial.
The expected base salary for this position is CAD 245,000 or USD 275,000, excluding annual bonuses. Salary is based on various factors, including market conditions, location, and job-related skills and experience.
