General Counsel / Head of Legal

The General Counsel / Head of Legal will be the inaugural legal hire, responsible for establishing and leading the legal function within the organization. This role offers the opportunity to build a scalable, AI-driven legal operations framework that minimizes reliance on external counsel and supports the company's rapid acquisition strategy.

In this position, the General Counsel / Head of Legal will oversee the legal aspects of approximately five acquisitions per year, ensuring efficient due diligence and transaction execution. They will manage corporate governance for the Delaware parent entity and its subsidiaries across multiple countries, acting as the corporate secretary for board meetings. The role also involves overseeing the legal requirements of a $100 million debt facility, including compliance with financial covenants and reporting obligations. Additionally, the General Counsel / Head of Legal will collaborate with People Operations to manage a hybrid workforce of over 400 employees, contractors, and EORs, ensuring compliance with employment laws and the Stock Appreciation Rights program. Streamlining customer contracts and privacy policies across the portfolio to adhere to best-in-class standards is also a key responsibility.

Candidates should possess a JD, LLM, or equivalent degree and be admitted to practice in a major jurisdiction, preferably the US or EU. A minimum of six years of experience with a strong emphasis on M&A or Venture Capital is required, with in-house experience at a "buy-and-build" platform considered a significant advantage. Proficiency in navigating both US and European legal frameworks in a remote-first, asynchronous environment is essential. An operational and AI-driven mindset is crucial, as the role involves leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency. The ability to set functional strategy, align with senior leadership, and act as a multiplier across the organization is also important.
