Graphcore is at the forefront of AI compute innovation, developing cutting-edge hardware and software solutions to accelerate artificial intelligence applications. The Graduate Silicon Engineer role is situated within the Silicon team, which is responsible for designing and producing Graphcore's silicon chips using leading-edge technologies and EDA tools. This team is divided into three specialized areas: Logical Design and DFT, Verification, and Physical Design, all collaborating closely to deliver high-performance chips.

As a Graduate Silicon Engineer, you will engage in one of these three domains. In Logical Design and DFT, you'll work with architectural, verification, physical, and operations teams to define microarchitecture and produce testable RTL. In Verification, you'll learn modern CPU and ASIC verification methodologies, such as constrained random test generation and functional coverage, to ensure chips meet their specifications. In Physical Design, you'll gain experience with modern physical implementation steps, including synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, physical design checks, power integrity, and logical equivalence. All roles involve using industry-standard EDA tools, providing a comprehensive learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, with a 2:1 or higher in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. Proficiency in C/C++ or Python is essential, demonstrated through academic projects, personal endeavors, or previous work experience. A highly motivated, curious, and self-starting attitude is crucial, as evidenced by extracurricular activities or hobbies beyond academic studies. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with a passion for learning about the evolving field of AI.

Graphcore offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including flexible working arrangements, a generous annual leave policy, private medical insurance, a dental plan, a pension scheme (matched up to 5%), life assurance, and income protection. Additional perks include a comprehensive parental leave policy, an employee assistance program covering health, mental well-being, and bereavement support, and a range of healthy food and snacks at the central Bristol office, which also features its own barista bar.

Joining Graphcore means becoming part of a dynamic and innovative company culture that values collaboration, continuous learning, and the pursuit of excellence. As a Graduate Silicon Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to work on groundbreaking AI hardware projects, contributing to the future of AI compute. The role offers significant growth opportunities, exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence.
