Ground Segment Test Engineer (UK or LUX)
ClearSpace is seeking a Ground Segment Test Engineer to join their team dedicated to ensuring the reliability and robustness of spacecraft operations. The Ground Segment Team at ClearSpace provides the digital backbone that enables safe, reliable, and autonomous space operations. As part of this team, the Test Engineer will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and operating the infrastructure that supports mission-critical services, from development through to live operations in space.
The primary responsibilities of the Ground Segment Test Engineer include designing, expanding, and maintaining automated test frameworks for the full suite of Ground Segment tools. This role involves integrating automated testing with the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous validation of mission software builds. The engineer will develop and maintain test infrastructures using Python, behave, allure, and other testing frameworks, plan and execute end-to-end integration tests covering mission operations workflows, system interfaces, and data flows, and collaborate with developers, system engineers, and operations teams to identify gaps in test coverage and implement robust solutions. Ensuring full traceability of test artifacts, results, and non-conformances, as well as supporting the configuration of test environments, including mock services, simulators, and virtualized Ground Segment systems, are also key aspects of the role.
Candidates must have experience with automated testing tools, frameworks, and methodologies, strong programming skills in Python, and hands-on experience with behave (BDD) and reporting frameworks such as allure. Familiarity with integrating test suites with CI/CD pipelines and an understanding of software integration, interface testing, and system-of-systems behaviors are essential. Additional qualifications include experience testing Ground Segment or mission operations systems, knowledge of satellite operations concepts, TM/TC flows, or space mission architectures, and experience working with simulators, spacecraft emulators, or hardware-in-the-loop testing.
ClearSpace offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment focused on sustainable space operations. Employees have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and contribute directly to the success of on-orbit activities. The company values innovation, teamwork, and a commitment to sustainability in space exploration.
